Why Nar?
In the Middle East and Turkey, and most especially Israel, the pomegranate (nar in Turkish) represents healing and health and is considered to be good for the blood as it is high in antioxidants. From a Jewish point of view, the pomegranate was the only fruit used in Solomon’s temple and on the garments of the priests; and its crown was apparently the inspiration for Solomon’s crown. Furthermore, the purple color of the skin represents royalty, when open we see white pith, representing purity, and red juice, representing the blood of the savior, which purifies us. In Judaism, it is believed that every pomegranate has 613 seeds, the same number as laws in the Torah. While Nar is the name of our Healing Rooms, we of course believe that it is Jesus alone that heals.
